Deceptively clear, this is actually a blend of reposado, añejo and extra añejo tequilas filtered for clarity and texture which may explain the curiously closed nose. It’s not until first taste that the ‘aha!’ moment comes along, with its tongue-coating, almost silky feel, carrying a platter of mangoes, sweet potato and parsnips, spiced with chili and white pepper, and finishing with dark chocolate and oak. So is the filtration a marketing gimmick? Perhaps, but with a crisp, flavourful tequila to back it up, we can’t get enough.
