THE FORGOTTEN CASKS
REGION: ST. LUCIA
This older expression of Chairman’s Reserve is a blend of column and potstill rums aged seven to twelve years old from casks misplaced after a distillery fire in 2007, or so the story goes. With a funky, punky herbal nose that brings to mind agricole, this is an Arabian oasis of raisins, dates, coffee and ginger, culminating in a dry, bitter finish that tapers off with oak and spice. An earthy, soulful rum that doesn’t demand much more than an early Motown soundtrack.
