Distilled. Issue 5

Whither terroir in whisky? In Issue 5 we look to Westland distillery in the Pacific Northwest and Highland Park on Scotland’s Orkney islands for an answer. We navigate the heat of Jerez as we delve into the auld aulliance between Scotland and sherry, we visit with Maestro Roneros in Cuba and we explore the spirit of Nuyorica in the Bronx. Travel is thirsty work so we close this issue by contemplating the dual personality of the hip flask.

Distilled is an independent magazine that showcases the craft and culture of fine spirits, including their makers, their terroir and their stories. All of our features are original, independent works specially commissioned for Distilled, published twice per year in the spring and fall. Issue 5 is 80 pages and perfect-bound, printed on 80lb Supreme Gloss.

THE SECRET LIFE OF CUBAN RONEROS

Cuba’s collective of Maestro Roneros is a group unlike any other in the spirits world. Matt Pietrek offers a glimpse into the inner sanctum of Cuban rum.
